Isolation Log

My Two Weeks in Quarantine

Corona Consequences

From July 28th to August 10th, I spent two weeks in isolation in my apartment. This was due to my trip home to Montreal from Hamburg, where I had spent 3 months of my summer.

To tackle the potential boredom of isolation, I set a goal for myself to learn something new every day for the two weeks I spent in quarantine.

On another note, I skipped day one of the series as that was the day I arrived in Montreal after a 11h trip and gave myself the "day off"

Quarantine Timeline:

On the first day of quarantine, I educated myself on the practices of mindfulness meditation. I had practiced it on several occasions, all of them guided and felt minor benefits such as stress relief and clearing my head.

On day two of quarantine, I decided to pursue the seemingly benign skill of card throwing. Although the task seemed simple to execute after studying a short YouTube tutorial by a master card thrower, I found myself struggling to achieve the desired results.

On the fourth day of quarantine, I consulted my dear cousin Olivia for inspiration and she suggested that I learned how to carve fruit. I was unaware that fruit carving is considered a skill but I gave it a chance.

On the fifth day, I felt uninspired. Therefore I decided to learn the chord progression to a song that was stuck in my head that day: Just a friend by Biz Markie, a rap classic from the year 1989.
